Ágnes Győri PhD is a senior research fellow at the Institute for Sociology, ELTE Centre for Social Sciences. She holds degrees in sociology and cultural anthropology and is a qualified secondary school history teacher. She obtained her doctoral degree in sociology in 2015 at Corvinus University of Budapest.

Her fields of expertise are the sociology of health and education. She has over 20 years of research experience in questionnaire surveys, in-depth interview and focus group studies, and national and international comparative analyses.

Her earlier research focused on the methodological development of vocational teacher training, on the school-level effectiveness of teacher assessment and knowledge-transfer tools influencing different learning motivations – with particular attention to innovative pedagogical methods – and on social differences in occupational and school choices (Győri–Czakó 2020; Czakó–Győri 2017; Czakó–Győri–Schmidt–Boros 2017). Her other research areas concern mental health, risk factors for burnout and the consequences of psychosocial stress (Győri et al. 2025; Győri 2023, 2024; Győri–Ádám 2025; Győri–Perpék 2025, 2022; Győri 2022). She has extensive expertise in the application of both quantitative and qualitative methods (Perpék et al. 2025; Győri–Czakó 2019; Győri et al. 2021).

She regularly publishes her research results in leading international journals such as SSM Population Health, Current Psychology, Frontiers in Public Health, the European Journal of Social Work and Quality and Quantity.

She is an editorial board member of the Corvinus Journal of Sociology and Social Policy and of Socio.hu.

She has been principal investigator and co-researcher of numerous research projects. She took part in the “Post-COVID” research exploring social phenomena, supported by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (PC2022 ll-3/2022), in the project aimed at renewing the national development of teacher training (EFOP-3.6.1-16-2016-00013), and in several studies examining mobility and integration processes in Hungarian society (NKFIH K147304, NKFIH K128965).

Between 2021 and 2025 she was principal investigator of research project no. NKFIH FK138315, supported under the OTKA basic research programme. Since the autumn of 2025 she has been head of the MTA-ELTE School and Health Research Group, established within the Public Education Development Research Programme of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
